What to do in case you have symptoms ? Where to get tested ?

The Université Grenoble Alpes is making every effort to ensure both the safety of all and optimal welcome, study and work conditions.

You will find here information about what to do if you have symptoms, as well as how to get tested for Covid-19.

Please note
Wearing a face mask is mandatory both inside the university buildings AND outside on the Saint-Martin-d’Hères campus, on the sites of the Faculties of medicine and pharmacy in La Tronche, as well as in the Grenoble conurbation and in Valence.

If you have Covid-19 like symptoms* or have been in contact with someone with confirmed Covid-19

  • Wear a face mask, wash hands often, avoid close contact (stay at least 1m away from others),
  • Inform your school / faculty / HR department:
    • ENSAG: your Admissions Office (“service de scolarité”)
    • Grenoble INP: by email to the Admission office (“service de scolarité”) of your school or your employer/manager if you are a member of staff
    • Sciences Po. Grenoble:
    • Other departments (UGA): fill the form available on the student intranet (LEO) or staff intranet, or send an email to if you do not have access to ‘LEO’ yet.
    • Your Human Resources Department if you are employed
  • Stay home for 7 days, after the first symptoms appeared or after your last contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19
  • Get tested for Covid-19 infection as soon as possible, or 7 days after your last contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19 if you not live under the same roof. No prescription is needed, and you can get tested even if you do not have a health insurance certificate yet. The test can be made in a laboratory or at the delocalized CHUGA testing center (see details below).
  • If you think your situation requires medical evaluation, please call your referent doctor.
    • In Grenoble – UGA students and PhD students can call the students health center, dialing, Monday to Friday, 8am till 12pm (except Tuesdays, 10am till 12pm). You can also contact the ‘Pôle de Santé Interprofessionnel du Sud-Est Grenoblois’ dialing or by email
    • In Valence – UGA students or PhD students can call the Centre Santé Jeunes, by dialing
  • If you have trouble breathing or feel out of breath, call the emergency service: dial 15 (114 for deaf and hard of hearing).
  • Once you get the results, follow the instructions given by the testing center, and inform your school / faculty / HR department of the results.

*Among the symptoms: fever, cough, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, headaches, sore throats, sometimes diarrhea...

Testing for Covid-19

You have two possibilities:
  • In a laboratory: you can find the list of all laboratories where a Covid-19 test can be made on the Santé.fr website. Before going to the laboratory, please check whether you must make an appointment. You could also be asked to fill out this form beforehand.
  • On the Saint-Martin-d’Hères campus: at the CHUGA testing center (details below)

CHUGA testing center on the Saint-Martin-d’Hères campus

Since September 7, and until December 31, 2020, a Covid-19 testing center is open on the St-Martin-d’Hères campus, managed by the CHUGA (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Grenoble Alpes).

  • Who can get tested ?
The center is opened mainly for the UGA students and staff members, who are in one the following situations:
  • You have no symptoms, and have not been in contact with a confirmed Covid-19 person (so not a ‘cas contact’) : you can take a TROD test (Test Rapide d’Orientation Diagnostique), the result will be given to you 20 minutes after the test.
  • You have symptoms, and have been designated as a ‘cas contact’ by the CPAM.
You must make an appointment before going.

  • How much does it cost ?
Getting tested is totally free, even if you do not have a health insurance certificate yet.
And you will need no prescription.

  • Where is the testing center ?
On the ground floor of the Maison de la création et de l’innovation (MACI) - 339, avenue centrale – 38 400 Saint-Martin d’Hères (Tram B, station Gabriel Fauré).

  • How to make an appointment ?
Appointments must be made online:
Appointments are possible Monday to Friday, 9am to 12pm and 12:40pm to 4pm. They are made available online 48 hours before. To make an appointment at the beginning of the week, you must connect during the weekend.
The testing center will be closed from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October, 2020.

To get an appointment, you have to create an account mychuga, where your personal information as well as the test results will be safely stored.

  • The day of your appointment
Please bring :
- Your ID or passport
- Your student card or professional card (for staff)
- Your face mask (mandatory)
- Your own pen
