Covid 19 – Health pass ("Pass sanitaire")
On the  August 20, 2021
Restrictive measures are in place in France to continue to limit the spread of the Covid-19. There are no longer any lockdown or curfew since the month of June, but in order to "reopen" the country and allow certain places or institutions to welcome the public again, the government has put in place a system called « Pass sanitaire », or health pass.

What is the "pass sanitaire" ?

The health pass is a proof of non-contamination with Covid-19, and consists of the digital (via the TousAntiCovid application) or paper (with QR code) document certifying of one of these three situations:
  • Vaccination (complete vaccination scheme with vaccine recognized and authorized by the European Medicines Agency),
  • proof of a negative test less than 72 hours old,
  • positive RT-PCR or antigenic test result demonstrating recovery of Covid-19, at least 11 days old and less than 6 months old.

When is the "pass sanitaire" mandatory ?

The health pass currently applies to people aged 18 or over.
Children between the ages of 12 and 17 will also be affected starting September 30, 2021.

The health pass is now mandatory in the following places:
  • cafés, bars and restaurants (terraces included),
  • long distance trains and coaches (interregional public transport such as TGV, night trains...),
  • some large shops or shopping malls,
  • cinemas, concert halls, sports halls, festivals, discos, monuments, museums, media libraries …
And also for cultural events organized by UGA, or events organized by students associations.

The health pass is not mandatory:

How to get my "pass sanitaire" ?

You have completed a full vaccination cycle with a vaccine recognized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA)

  • You are a European citizen (EU/EEE)
No need to be vaccinated again, the certificate you received is valid in France, and can be imported into the "TousAntiCovid" application.
  • You are of another nationality
You do not need to be vaccinated again, you can ask for a health pass equivalence.
The procedure is to be done online, via one of the following platforms, and depending on your status:
> For students and doctoral students registered in a French higher education institution
> For other foreign nationals

> More information on the website of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs

You have completed an incomplete (one dose) vaccination cycle with a vaccine recognized by the EMA, or a complete vaccination cycle with a vaccine recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO)

You will only need one dose of vaccine in France to obtain your health pass.
On the day of the vaccination, present the vaccination certificate you obtained in your country to the health professional.

You have not been vaccinated, or have been vaccinated with a vaccine not recognized by the EMA or WHO

You will need to complete a full vaccination cycle in France with two injections.
Good to know
If you need a health pass on a one-time or short-term basis, you can take a screening test (PCR or antigenic). If the result is negative, you can obtain a health pass valid for 72 hours.

The vaccination, test and recovery certificates of your country are recognized in Europe if you come from one of the following Principalities or country:
Albania, Andorra, Faroe Islands, Israel, Northern Macedonia, Morocco, Monaco, Panama, United Kingdom (England and Wales), Turkey or Ukraine.
You can thus use the certificate of your country as a health pass in France.
