At a university that has an open-minded outlook on the world and expertise that is recognized beyond national borders, international factors are relevant for everyone. The Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) responds to issues related to interculturality at all levels. To do so, it is keen to raise awareness of international issues amongst students and personnel, starting on its campuses.

Promotion of intercultural and/or international activities

The objective is to recognize the skills acquired through collaboration and educational activities with an international element and/or in an intercultural context involving UGA students, faculty and staff.

Internationalization awareness workshops

Workshops to raise awareness of internationalization are offered to administrative staff in order to improve the way members of the international community are welcomed to the university. Some workshops take place in collaboration with the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Spain), through the SUCTI project(Systemic University Change Towards Internationalization). A network of personnel is tasked with achieving the objective of ensuring that internationalization within the UGA, which has already begun, becomes a long-lasting feature of the university. This network is in charge of hosting various awareness workshops which are organized all year round.

Intercultural awareness workshops

Other workshops have also been organized and have, amongst other things, reinforced a receptive mindset and uptake of student mobility opportunities thanks to the addition of an international dimension to foreign language classes.
Through this process, the UGA is implementing activities presenting different cultures for its students and personnel, including:
- Japan: awareness workshop on Japanese culture and student mobility preparation guide;
- Russia: cultural lecture focusing on interactions within Russian civilization, seminar on Living and studying in Russia (preparation for students planning a study experience or an internship  in Russian-speaking countries);
- Arabic-speaking countries: series of language-focused and cultural activities aiming to prepare students for mobility opportunities in these countries.
