Call for projects
International, Research
On June 8, 2026
Every year since 2023, the libraries of Université Grenoble Alpes (Law, Humanities, Science, Medicine and Pharmacy) have offered two research grants to promote the scholarly use of their special collections.
Among UGA’s most remarkable specialised collections are those dedicated to physics, Italian studies, medicine and pharmacy, life sciences, and earth sciences.
Overview of the call for proposals framework
The grant amounts to €1,000 per week, for a period of up to five weeks, and is intended to cover all research-related expenses as well as travel and accommodation costs. The grant will be paid directly to the recipient.
Two grants will be awarded.
In addition to the grant itself, the library will provide:
• a workspace within the library;
• support from a librarian who will assist and guide the researcher throughout their stay.
The research stay must take place before the end of 2026.
Grant recipients will be required to submit a short research report highlighting the value and relevance of the collections made available by the university libraries.
Application process
The scholarship is open to faculty members, researchers, or doctoral students enrolled at a foreign university or at a French university other than UGA.
Applications must be submitted in French or English and include:
• a cover letter;
• a curriculum vitae;
• a research proposal (maximum 3 pages) explaining how the library’s resources, archives, or special collections will be used during the stay;
• two letters of recommendation.
Please send your applications to:
bapso-direction-generale@univ-grenoble-alpes.fr for the attention of Frédéric Saby, Director of the Library.
The application deadline is 8 June 2026 at 12:00 noon (French time).
The selection committee consists of the Director, the Deputy Director and the Director of Research Support Services of the university library. The committee will review applications and submit selected candidates to the Vice-President for International Relations for approval. Selected applicants will be contacted before mid-July.
