A new collaboration on resilience between UGA and Swansea University

The strategic partnership between Swansea University and Université Grenoble Alpes has taken a new step forward with the drafting and implementation of its strategic plan for 2021-2026. Resilience has been identified as one of the five main topics* of the collaboration leading to the creation of a specific workstream.
The resilience workstream launched its first virtual workshop on May 6th 2021 to explore potential research collaboration opportunities as part of the Grenoble-Swansea strategic theme ‘‘Resilience’’.

Each university had the opportunity to present the results and opportunities highlighted by the resilience research mapping exercise across the two institutions. Participants were then offered the chance to discuss specific topics of potential collaboration in smaller groups broken out as follows:

1. Climate and environmental resilience
2. Resilient societies: cultural diversity and heritage, social systems and governance
3. Resilient organizations: health systems, supply chains & industries, risk management
4. Resilient infrastructure and sustainable cities

This first meeting was designed to initiate the formation of focused cross-institutional working groups around shared interests, objects or approaches, and identify potential promising alignments with large funding calls (e.g. Horizon Europe) to foster further institutional support.

It will help to develop further the constructive collaboration between Swansea university and UGA.
