International students, PhD students and researchers, you arrived or were already in France in 2025? You should know that a tax return campaign is carried out each year by the French tax authorities. The 2026 tax return campaign has started on April 9, 2026.

The 2026 calendar for the income tax return

The calendar varies depending on your département of residence and whether you file your tax return online or by post.
You must meet the applicable deadlines when filing your tax returns.
  • Start of the income tax declaration services: Thursday 9 April 2026.
  • Deadline for online tax returns, if you live in Isère (Grenoble, 38) or Drôme (Valence, 26): Thursday 28 May 2026 (at 23:59).
  • Deadline for paper returns: Tuesday 19 May 2026.
