Special rate for students aged 18 to 25

A reduced rate applies to students aged 18 to 25 inclusive.
To qualify, you must show proof of enrolment at university, such as your 'certificat de scolarité'.
If you do not yet have it, you can show a proof of admission to university, until you can provide proof of enrolment.

"Tarification solidaire" (solidarity-based fare system)

The solidarity-based fare system ("tarification solidaire") entitles you to reduced fares depending on your resources.
For example, you can benefit from the "tarification solidaire" if:

• You are a student receiving a CROUS scholarship awarded on social criteria (on the basis of means-tested criteria).
• You are a student receiving the CROUS annual allowance ("allocation spécifique annuelle", ASA).
• You are a student benefiting from the "Complémentaire santé solidaire" (CSS) for free (without having to pay any contribution).
• You are a CAF beneficiary: the "quotient familial" showing on your CAF payment certificate will determine the solidarity-based pricing formula you are eligible for.
  Please note: if you are under 25 years of age, you will also need to present a French tax certificate in addition to your CAF payment certificate. In this case, you will only be able to benefit from the "tarification solidaire" from the second year of residence in France, and once you have obtained a tax notice.
• You benefit from the "Complémentaire santé solidaire" (CSS) or are covered with the "Aide Médicale d’État" (AME).
• You are applying for asylum.

Reduced fares

Reduced fares apply automatically if you are under 26 years old.
If you are over 26, you will have to prove that your income does not exceed a certain threshold.

Employer subsidy for salaried workers

If you use public transport for your daily commute between your home and your place of work, your employer will subsidize part (up to 75%) of the cost of your travel pass.

If you choose to hire a bike with M vélo +, you should know that there is a student rate, as well as a solidarity-based fare system ("tarification solidaire") adapted to your means.

Libélo or buying a second-hand bike in Valence

You can choose to hire a Libélo bike on a one-off, self-service basis, or on a long-term basis, for 3 to 12 months. For long-term hire, a reduced rate applies if you are under 26.
